help please!!!
Maachan's suggestion above that your cam is trying to seize due to lack of oil is a good one.
Also it's necessary to properly tighten the bolt on the cam gear. It needs to fit flat against the end of the cam with no grease or debris in between. I think this is a situation where friction does most of the work, as the pin alone can't handle all of the torque.

I agree with the oil issue. The problem is if that is the problem you most likely have done damage to cam bearings etc. So if that is it you better pull the head again & do some replacing. Might check for proper cam bore alignment also. There has to be an answer, it just a matter of really checking everything very close.
hey guys, so no work on the car today, had to fish lol. ya thats a good point about the head not getting oil. i put a litre of lucas in there with some 5w/30, would that be to thick to pump in there? oil does flow through the head, not sure how much but it did when we had it running. and ya sorry it is a woodruff key, couldnt think of the name lol. i'll have another look at it eventually, just need some time away from it, kinda pissed me off hahaha. who hasnt been there? so how do i go about fixing this? take the head in get it rebuilt or? thanx again guys
so i bought a parts car for 2oo bucks. i swapped heads and she fires right up, runnin good now. the problem with the old head is...... the cam seized due to lack of oil because...some previous owner, took apart the rocker assembly and put it back to gether in the wrong ****in order. one of the "rocker" things there has an oil jet that mates to the head, well it was over there and the oil jet is on the other side. so ya, basically starved it for i dunno how long, but it was ****ed. any chance where the cam rides can be machined?
Glad you got it fixed. Yea sometime you just have to take a break away from projects that **** you off. It never fails when I get a clear head things fall into place. Oil passages need to line up with bearings etc if oil is going to get through.
Anyway glad to hear it is fixed & for only $200 good deal.

hey guys problems again. well the car runs great but last night i came home, shut it off, ran inside my house came back out and tried to start it again to leave. it fired right up for a second then died, wouldnt start again. so i took the trusty ol 4runner lol. so this mornig i tried to see wtf was up. it fired right up, warmed it up and turned it off. fired right back up again. turned it off started it it fired up then stalled. no fuel pump hum. cycled the ignition a few times till i heard it and it fired right up. i figured the main relay so i pumped some bass to try to rattle it, and banged the dash. shut it off and no start. banged the dash some more, then it started. am i right to think its the relay? gonna pull the donor one today or tomorrow and solder it and see what happens. any ideas guys?
