(a) Wrong axle, or damaged seal surface on the axle. Check that the seal fits on the axle before you put the seal into the transmission.
(b) Wrong seal. I think these seals will be directional, you use different ones on the left and the right side. If that's the case the seal will be marked with an arrow. The arrow points the way that the axle rotates when the car is rolling forward.
(c) Seal damaged during installation. You need to use a tool that presses only on the very outermost part of the seal, and presses it in evenly. Also be careful not to hit the seal with the splined part of the axle while putting it in.
(d) Cracked transmission case, etc. i.e. the oil is not leaking out the axle seal.

you probably jacked up the axle seal. minor problem.. pull the axle and pull the seat out and get a new seal from the dealership and replace it. just be sure when instaling the new seal that you instal it evenly and dont push it in to far! i believe you want it even with the case. if you push it in to far it wont seal. been there did that
i also put some thick grease al around the seal and axle when i reinsaled mine to hopefully help alittle more to seal it up.

I once falsely thought that I had a similar leak from a transmission seal after replacing an axle. To my surprise, it turned out that the inner CV joint boot of the new axle was leaking. This might be worth consideration in your case as well.
