Default Hey, so here is a problem I haven't seen before

Last night, I was driving my girlfriend's civic in the dark, so I turned the headlights on and they were working fine for a while. But when I got to my destination, I realized that the headlights weren't on at all. I tried turning the lights on and off and nothing happened. What's worse is that the yellow lights next to the headlights, the interior lights, and the brake and license plate lights all stayed on and wouldn't shut off even when I turned off the vehicle and removed the keys and checked all of the doors.

So I tried just unplugging some fuses on the underside of the dash, but I couldn't find the one that controlled the lights, because I didn't want my battery to die overnight. I ended up just removing the negative end of the battery... Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I'd prefer to do it myself rather than visit someone. BTW, the brights worked normally, it's just the headlights won't come on at all, and the other lights stay on no matter what.

I had a similar problem i just pushed all the plugs in checked that everythign was tight stuff like that and the next day they worked....im thinking its a relay problem....and i am wondering if you switched off the headlights because even if the key i off civics dont automatically turn there lights off at least not to my knowledge. But also you should put the year and model of the car because that for some reason always helps

It's a '92. You know the blinker stick, that's the switch that controls the lights and I kept turning it from its off position to its medium position to its on position and the headlights would never come on and the side lights, interior, etc. stayed on. It's really bizarre.

Sounds like a bad switch.

I'd agree it's most likely the switch itself. Check if the marker lights are still stuck on when you reconnect the battery. Then take the plastic cover off of the column behind the steering wheel and unplug the wires from the light switch. If they go out, she needs a new switch.

sounds like a fuse, you have a fuse that controls your low beams so turn the headlights on bright and see if they work
