Auto Trans ****s Hard
Hey Guys -
I just picked up a very clean '86 Civic with just 110K original miles and could use some input please. The automatic trans shifts late (higher rpms than seems normal) and hard (abrupt, not smooth). I checked the trans fluid level per the manual, it is within specs. The owner's manual said to use Dextron, but I noticed that most everyone suggests Honda ATF for auto trans servicing.
Could it possibly be a shift linkage adjustment or a vacuum issue since it's a carb-equipped vehicle?
If anyone is familiar with this issue, I could use some guidance please!
Thanks much -
