Default high temperature problem

Hello, I have a problem that maybe someone can help me with. I have a 95 Civic sedan and my temperature guage is reading high. I just dropped an engine in this car. Basically everthing has been replaced in the heating system except for the heating pump. temperature sensors have been replaced. I checked the temperature with a infrared beam and it came in at 180 degrees. They told me it was normal. I also changed the cluster in that I thought it would be a bad guage. I am done with any of my ideas. any suggestions.

Actually your car runs the best when the coolant is ~ 200*F.

Heating pump? You mean water pump?

I believe your thermostat is set at 180*. How far above normal is your needle?

In the new engine, did you change the water pump or thermostat, because you should always spend a little and do those.

Is it a bigger engine that you put in? Is the original radiator big enough for the larger engine?
