Honda civic EG horn
Hi guys, can anyone please help. my stock standard horn suddenly stopped working. Do i need to take my sterring wheel apart or something? ive checked all the fuses and there all good. Is there something that needs to be done like wiring? Its a EG model civic which is a late 91 model. Thanks heaps
"hot wire" the horn directly to the battery. If it works, then start like franz said with the test meter trying to find maybe a loose connection, fuse or something. If it doesn't work when it's "hot wired" try a horn from a car that you know works.
Thanks guys, The fuse has been looked at and working perfectly, how do i check if the horn is getting power? where is the wire i need to tap inot with the voltmeter? I like the sound of "hot wire" but where to i connect this to? one side to battery and the other one to? thanks heaps for your help guys
your horn is just inside the lower grill in the front of your car, its on the passenger side but you can see it through the grill. there is a plug right at the horn with two wires leading out of it.
The easiest thing might be to go to an auto parts store and buy a replacement horn. Plug it in right in their parking lot and try to beep the horn. If the new one beeps, the horn was just broken, if it doesn't beep, return the new horn and welcome to the nightmarish world of automotive wiring

Thanks for the advice stimpy, I think it might be the horn b/c before it stopped working it wasnt as loud as id like. Did i need to get a honda horn or any aftermarket horn will plug in easily? Thanks
Ive found the horn wires and can see the horn beside the radiator, The only way in will be to disassemble my bumper. Is there an easier way to change the horn or to fix it without taking off the bumper?
Its pretty easy to take off the bumperThere are two bolts underneath the car, two screws just in front of the wheel wells (peel back the plastic), and 5 or 6 screws on the top. The bumper just pulls right off after you take those out.
Its probably not the only way to get at your horn, but it's sure easier than coming in from the other end.
(a hazy memory of a joke involving a guy getting his tonsils taken out rectally is comming to mind)
