Default Honda Civic Ex 2001 oil leaking problem

Hello guys,

I have a problem, I hope you guys can help figure out. I have a 2001 Honda Civic Ex manual transmission. It's been leaking oil for some time. My dad helped me, by washing the engine, and he noticed oil leaking from the valve cover (I hope it's called like that). Anyway, it's the nr 1 on the image. We changed the valve cover seal,(which is the blue thing shown on image marked with nr1) and its stopped leaking from there. However, now it's start to leak where I marked with nr 2. I have no idea what's that called, and my dad has no idea why it's leaking there. He told me to go to a mechanic, but I want to have some ideas first what may be the problem.

I also see oil leaking from down under the car, I think maybe from the oil pan (I dunno) but I have to fix this one first, since its leaking a huge amount of oil.

Anybody has any ideas?

The car runs fine....except some noises in the gearbox, which I have to go to the mechanix to fix. (I know it's gearbox, because the noises get uglier when I release the clutch)

Oil at place 2 means that the rear crank seal (or remotely possible) the transmission seal is leaking and letting oil get into the space between the engine and the transmission. Most of this oil will drip out the bottom but some of it may appear at other places where the engine meets the transmission such as your spot #2. There is not supposed to be a gasket or anything at spot 2, it is not supposed to have any oil behind it.

It could also just be that a bunch of oil from the valve cover leak has run down and seeped into the gap and is now working its way out.

Sorry, read the reply too fast
So I should wait and see if it stops, or replace transmission seal?

its the cam seal those always leak though it would have been alot easier to replace with the with the valve cover off. there are DIYs on youtube.

That's a good point, look for oil coming out around the round plastic plug in the end of the head (behind area 1). It's going to run down all over the place.
