So the upper tie bar on my 2001 Honda Civic hood completely broke off. It looks like it needs to be welded back on. The only thing that seems to be keeping the hood down now is the release lever. I called a body shop and they told me that the entire tie bar needs to be replaced which is going to cost me over $1,000. Should I just take this to Honda to fix? About how much do you think this will cost me?

 

Did it break where a weld is? If so find someone who can weld it back on. $1000 is WAY too much.
