How much noise is ok for tires?
I jacked up my tires yesterday to check for free rotation and noise. I have a front-wheel-drive car. The rear tires spun freely and each made a rubbing noise once each rotation (I assume this is normal brake pad functioning). Each of the front tires, though, spun around only about 1.25 times and there was quite a lot of frictiony type sound with each one. I'm thinking maybe the 1.25 rotations is ok, as they are the drive tires. So, in order to understand more about the wheel/brake systems, my questions are:
1) Does my description of the rear tires sound alright?
2) Should the front tires rotate more freely?
3) Should I be worried about the noise in the front tires (it was more of a constant sound than the rear - I'm not sure if I would call it scraping, but maybe it was slightly)?
Thank you

RE: How much noise is ok for tires?
hey there the back brakes seam ok to me, they should make a slight noise not much though.
As for the front it sounds like you need to replace your pads, sounds like there tearing into your rotors, prob need to take of the tires and look at them and see for sure.
Are your rear brakes drums or disks?
I would say reaplace all pads and or shoes, check you rotors and or rear drums.
