Default how to tell a vtec motor?

I just got a used 96 honda ex coupe and i know the people i got it from put a vtec in their CRX they have and im unsure as to weither the car i still have is a vtec or not. Ive been told it is but it doesnt kick too hard due to the fact its only on the intake side of the motor. But how would i check to see if it is a vtec to be sure, because it came with one but it might have been swapped.

Thanks, Eric.

check the engine code on the block sorry idont have a pic of where its located its in the front of the engine kinda behind the radiator urs should say d16y8 then its a vtec or d16z6 if they swapped in an older motor it would also be vtec ther are other vtec engines that could be in there but these are the most likely just post the engine code u find and ill tell u whether its vtec or not
