RE: I need a write-up for timing belt replacement 98 Civic.
I would not recommend a Chilton's manual for that model of car because the procedure written is not that accurate. For example, it actaully explains that there are two timing belts, one being a balancer belt, which is only true for the V-6s. It's not completely wrong, but could be confusing for the inexperienced. If you can, find an actual honda service manual. Dealer costs are outrageous, so I would suggest checking ebay, or check some of the older posts and archives. There are some with links to sites where you can actually download the entire pdf file.

There's no reason to spell out the procedure for you verbatim. That's what the factory and aftermarket manuals are for. If somebody is willing, they might give you a brief breakdown. That procedure can get as detailed as you want it to be. Nobody knows exactly how much information you need, so there's no sense guessing or wasting time writing when manuals can cover a wide range of experiences and included pictures and diagrams in a nice portable book. If you're a DIY, and serious enough to tackle this project, you should invest in a manual anyway.
