What year Civic do you have? Not all Civics have a fast idle valve.

I bought a new one. Auto parts stores don't have them, so you have to buy OEM Honda. It ran me about $60-70. The new one comes with all o-rings and everything you need.

Try unplugging the IACV. If the idle doesn't change, forget the sensors because the computer isn't what's making it idle high. There is something letting too much air into the engine. Also pinch off the vacuum hoses to the brake booster, EVAP canister, etc. Anything that leaks extra air into the intake will cause the idle speed to increase. The DPFI I don't think has a fast idle valve but it has some wacky stuff on the throttle shaft that the MPFI's don't.

Ok today I tired these things on my 95 Civic(1.6 Vtec) My Issues are, Idle speed jumping up and down (1,200-1,800) now with this going on I can stop and turn it off and restart and its fine until I mash the gas....right back to idle problem......also with a cold morning start its idle is way high...near 3,000. Today I cleaned both IACV as well as FITV per directions I found here. I am still having the same problem. I have checked plugs, wires, coolent. Also as it was in up and down idle I also did a unplug on the AICV and I did settle down and the idle was very smooth. Begging for tips!...Thanks

Sounds like a faulty EACV/IACV. Is the CEL ON?

Did you also test the function of the fast idle valve by placing your finger over the relevant throttle body port when the engine is both cold and warm?

Suction from the fast idle valve port should completely stop when the engine is warm. This is likely at least contributing if not completely causing the idle problem. Given that you have already cleaned the fast idle valve, you may need now to replace it. Solve this problem before doing anything more with the EACV/IACV.
