Default idle problems

I tried to teach my girlfriend to drive my car on sunday (its stick) And on monday, i was driving to school and noticed the car idling at near 1500 rpms. after 10 minutes or so of driving, the idle retrned to normal (400-600 rpms) any idea what it could be? Also, my AC went out at near the same time, could the two problems be connected? (even though i doubt it)
Someone might remember how my last girlfriend put diesel in my car....not having very good luck with woman and my car [&:]
Thanks

change spark plugs, clean the throttle bore, idle air passages and idle air control motor. Also replace the fuel filter and air filter

Its not due to anything like my filters , maybe a computer problem. It never did this before, always idled perfectly. Thanks for the help, maybe ill take it in to get it checked by a professional. any more ideas though?

Well, my car did something similar, It stayed very long at fast idle, and it even fast idle for a second anytime I release the throttle... Like, I pressed the clutch and release the gas, and it stayed at 1500rpm for a second before droping to 500rpm...

The pedal adjustment was too tight... And I cleaned and oiled the throttle body at the same time.

hey bro, I had the same exact problem; it got worse, the rmps started flactuating like crazy. Best thing to do is put the jump wire the ECU and read the trouble code (if your ECL is on); otherwise best thing to do is take out the AICV (air idle control valve) and clean it up, aslo the throddle body and make sure everything is moving smoothly. If the problem still persists; than is your AICV for sure.
