Idling and driving problems
1997 Honda Civic 5sp manual.
In the midst of accelerating from 1st gear, my car will act as if no gas is being received. In other words, my car is fine, and then all of the sudden it stops accelerating and "jumps" and then starts accelerating again and then again stops. The initial feeling is that no gas is being received. Also, when I get out of first gear it happens in other gears as well. For example, I can be riding down the road and as soon as I take my foot off the gas, the car makes that same choking sound and very un-smoothly jumps to a lower speed. Then when I put my foot back on the gas, it jumps to a start again. This problem happens in all gears.
At a point my check engine light came on and the Autozone test directed me to a new throttle position sensor. I have gotten the sensor replaced multiple times. It works fine at first, but then a couple weeks to a couple months later, the same problems start again.
This led me to replace the entire throttle body from another used Honda. It didn't solve the problem. Instead it brought on a new problem where my RPMs (when in neutral) will continuously go from 1000 to 2500, non stop until out of neutral. So to try to fix the problem, we put the original throttle body back in. Now the RPMs only go from 1000 to 2000 continuously.
I can't find the solutions to these problems, but I know they are out there. Please, any suggestions would be great.
