Ignition coil question
Just had my second ignition coil go bad on my 2006 civic. The first one went bad back in 2010.
With just a bit over 100,000 miles on the car, my question is, is it common for these to fail at this mileage? Or could something else be going on other than the coils just wearing out?
I'm thinking that if 2 already went bad, the other two will probably be not too far away in going bad as well. Any advice would help.
Also, facing the engine, is the order of spark plugs from left to right 4 - 3 - 2 - 1?
And is the firing order 1 - 3 - 4 - 2?
Thanks.

Not unheard of for the first one which I assume went around 80,000mi? The second one went a little quick. What type of replacement did you use? I've had nothing but problems with aftermarket coils.
Would check the resistance and connections of your plug wires. Any misgapped plug or high resistance will mess with the coil.
Have you checked your timing or compression lately? Sometimes when people crank over the engine with plugs removed or with the old style timing lights it can blow a coil too.

2001 and later is a distributorless system with coil per plug. There are no spark wires and timing is driven directly from the crankshaft sensor, it is not adjustable. The coils fit in the spark plug holes and have low voltage wires connected to the top. Overall it's a much better system but more expensive since there are 4 coils (with integral ICM in each one) instead of one.
