Ignition Switch
Hey guys new to here and just got me a 91 civic hatch. Problem is I bought it off the guy with a ignition switch problem. He told me when he got the car it looked like it was broken into and the ignition switch was messed up and he bought one from honda and took it to some shop in another state and they wired it up wrong. when you put the key in with the battery hooked up everything comes on without the key turned to on or accecories. So I was wondering if anyone has a simple way to wire it up with a start button and toggleswitchor should I go get a haynes manual and go wire chasing?

I may be totally wrong but I think it's just a plug in... The problem might not be the switch itself, maybe the guy who broke into the car had cut some wire or something and now there is a short... Apart from that everything works fine?
Maybe you need the keymechanism too, it sounds like the switch may be OK but the key isn't linked to it so it doesn't turn off. (Does the steering lock with the key all the way off?) Anyway take the column cover off and see what you have. If it's the right switch, it is just a matter of matching up the same colored wires.
