Default important question about b18a1 and tranny

So some of you may know that i am transplanting a b18a1 into my 90 hatch, but i need some help. there are two plates at the bottom of the block (i believe one is oil pump and the other is on the tranny side). I am trying to figure out if they need actual gaskets or if i could possibly use rtv sealant. I also need the transmission case seal for the block to tranny mate.

If i need gaskets for those plates where do i get them and the tranny seal and about how much will they be?

I don't believe there is a gasket on the oil pump but when I pulled mine off my D series, there was some sort of liquid gasket type material between it and the block. On the tranny side, you've got the rear main seal (REPLACE) and the same stuff between the metal and the block. I don't know for sure what the stuff is, only that it is there.

thanks hobo it sounds like rtv sealant. we use it for everything in our military vehicles.

so is there a gasket between the transmission assembly and the block? (where the clutch and flywheel are)

The factory service manual just says "liquid gasket" so I guess that's it.

There isn't a gasket, but there is the rear main seal. I'd get that from Majestic Honda (hondaautomotiveparts.com) or from your dealership if the cost isn't too much higher.

It's not so much between the block and trans as it is between the thing that holds the rear main seal and the block, which sits between the block and the tranny, but is attached to the block.

It's just metal on metal on the main joint between the transmission and engine. There is no need to seal anything in or out, as there is a drain hole at the bottom.
