Installing timing belt?
So today I went to put on my new timing belt and I am having the worlds worst luck. There has got to be some mfing secret trick to it. Can someone please help! RonJ <3 no homo.
yes..... the tensioner is all the way loosened. But I still can't seem to get it on and the shop manual just says the order it doesn't say how to get it on. please help!

B18a
So the one way I did get it on but the timing got fed in the process was putting everthing but the crank on and turning it and pushing like one tooth that i could get onto the crank and it slowly would get on but it didn't like that and the timing got messed up.
Because I knew you would be one of the best people to ask.

Hey Trustdestruction, are you out there? Do you happen to have the service manual for the B18a engine. If so, can you post the diagram/page in the manual that describes the timing belt installation. Maybe there's a detail in the manual that will help. Is the B18a a DOHC engine?
Jpnolan, in the meantime, are you able to post a clear photograph showing the cam gear(s), crank gear, and tensioner of your B18a engine all in one frame. The picture might help generate some ideas.

Do not force a timing belt on, you're likely to damage the fibers in the belt and weaken it. They're only designed to take stress in the normal running direction and any twisting or "crimping" is very bad. At this point you might consider buying a new belt and not using the one that is potentially damaged.
You could try removing the tensioner spring and bolt so it moves completely out of the way, put the belt in place then reinstall the tensioner.

the best way to put it on is the get first piston all the way up n on your cams there should be a mark that matchs with the timing belt covers bolted on the engine ill try n find some example pixs so it makes my sloppy talk more understandable
you sure you got the right cam gears when you ordered them? Right crank gear? I would double check those things. On my DOHC zc it had the wrong crank gear making it super hard to get the timing belt on. It also made the car very hard to start
