Man, just put the jack on something that doesn't give at all.

AND BE CAREFULE WITH THE SHAKE TEST!!!

Last week I went to shake my car and put too much pressure on a spot that was not so solid, and put a nice little dent in my fender[:@]

i was always told that after you get the car up and put the stands underneath, get some cement bocks or somthing and stick them under the tires just incase the stands dont hold up the car dosent fall ontop of you

i throw the tires under the car one i pull them off. and that actually saved me from losing a few fingers once when a stock jack failed.

Uh ok, bare with me yall... i gotta bring back this thread.

I normally work on my ford truck (yeah, laugh it off), and with that sucker i just put the jack any old place on the frame (which you can clearly see on a truck, this uni-body stuff got me stumped here).

Now, i got my girl friends civic, and im not so sure about these 'jacking points.' Im not talking about where the floor jack goes offset behind the front bumper, but the spot behind the front wheels where im supposed to put a stand... am i supposed to put a stand on that little lip down there? Its that little 3/4"x4"x.25" rectangle thing, jutting out from under the body) ? or can i put it to the side of it or something?

Put it on the little lip that sticks out. If you put it on the metal next to the lip (I've jacked it up this way before. Don't recommend it) everything's gona get all bent up.

I have 6 jack stands... I always put two near the same point side by side...
I'm paranoid... this is when "better safe than sorry" really applies...

If I can I have the floor jack supporting it as well...

I use the point right under the front bumper (off to the right slightly if looking at the car head on) and then i put jack stands on the solid parts right behind each of the front wheels and then make sure the e brake is on and its in gear then i put blocks behind each of the rear wheels
