i was just wondering how check to see what kind of engine i have in the civic? you know how everyone is talking about b17 or something like that. i was just wondering how to check.

pop your hood. look at your engine to the left of the exhaust manifold. there is a small sqare spot that is probably covered in oil and grime, wipe that off and read away... yours will either be a D16Y8 or a D16Y7

thanks guys, that helped a lot. Here is another questiong that i should know the answer to, what does the D16y7 mean anyways?

it is the engine designation code, it is what seperates each engine from other engines(like d16y8) without having to use the serial number. you can use that number and go online to find out how powerfull your engine is, the bore, stroke, compression ratio, rpm redline, hp, torque ect ect
