Default K20a3 pistons in k20a2?

In short, here is my question: will lower compression k20a3 pistons work in k20a2 so I can run 87 gas?

I have a k20a3 in a civic ep3 that I wanted to do a k20a2 head swap on, but then I found a whole k20a2 engine for cheap and figured it would be better to use the whole thing because it has better rods , crank, oil pump, and head of course real Vtec. Thing is, I don’t want a full A2 swap because I don’t want to run premium gas. If I were to take the whole a2 engine but then swap the lower compression a3 pistons in to run 87 gas, would it all go together fine? I’ve heard you can put a2 pistons in the a3 to raise compression so I’d assume it works the other way around, probably no one has ever done it though because it deliberately lowers compression and kills power haha. Thanks guys
