lazy
when i took my 99 civic sir out of storage last spring it seemed lazy on the bottom end. I know that there not a torquey motor to begin with but it seemed worse than it should be. It still runs fine and goes like hell on the top end so it can't be anuthing to serious. It cuuld be that I drive a 92 Grand Prix with a 3.1 v6 torque monster for a winter beater and going from it to the civic is a drastic torque change so maby its all in my head.
Any thing I should Check??
Any thing I should Check??
Just give it a good ol tune up. New cap and rotor, new plugs and wires. Change the oil, flush the coolant system and tranny fluid. Throw on a new fuel filter and maybe use some seafoam to clean up the internals. That should have it running even better.
do a compression test. you mave have a bit of rust on the valves from not running it and pumping oil into the head. its probably nothing, but it doesnt hurt to check. and check the ignition timing, sounds like it might be running a little retarded.
all this happend last spring and I drove the car all summer. I did everything as for tune up and compression but I didnt do timing. I used to be into chevies and v8 stuff and because its a Honda I have never had to much work on the engine at all so far so this question isnt quite as dum as it is going to sound. What re youguys setting your timing to on a B16 and is the timming mark still on the ballincer at the front of the engine?
