limp mode

Default limp mode

I have a rebuilt b18a1 in my 90 civic hatch. before rebuilt ran fine no limp mode had a head gasket leak. after being rebuilt car now is in limp mode. running a pr4 ecu stock pistons and rods. any help will be appreciated

cel 4. crank angle sensor. but replaced dizzy twice.

This is the reason for limp mode. Use a multimeter to check the two crank sensor wires for an open or short. Also inspect the corresponding wire terminals in the distributor connector.

i checked for resistance and continuity it all checked out perfect

Did you check for continuity to body ground (=short)?

all grounds were good. did it when motor was rebulit

You are not understanding the procedure to check for an electrical short. Test for continuity to body ground from each end of the crank sensor wires.

Unplug the ECU and check sensor resistance and ground faults by measuring at the ECU plug. There should be infinite resistance from either sensor wire to any other wire in the plug, including ground. This verifies that the wiring harness and plugs are OK too.

Also make sure you have the plastic insulator plate installed in the distributor under the rotor. Leaving it out will allow sparks to jump down to the sensors and bad things will happen.
