That guy is probaly just messing with you because your driving a Honda. He just want to see you actually do it and messed up your car which means less rice on the road for him.

He's yanking your chain. The only time that I hear that using paint to increase performance when polished intakes were illegal during racing some decades ago. People use paint to smooth out cavities inside the intakes ports.

Well I have to say that is by far one of the dumbest performance modifications I have ever heard of. In addition to what everyone else has said, picture this... You paint the top of your pistons white. You start the engine. Paint ****ing melts!

yeah paint melts but if you didnt understand what VHT stands for it means very high temp paint that can stand temps up to 1700 degrees. retard

Well, I think the point you're missing here ('retard' comments aside) is that paint being exposed to high temperatures is not the same thing as paint being exposed to actually being lit on fire - which is what happens inside each one of your engine cylinders approximately350 times per minute at idle. Since they haven't come up with an effective fireproof paint, then I think you're getting the wrong information.

What has not been mentioned is the fact that gasoline makes an excellent solvent - especially when certain fuel additives are introduced as well. I doubt very much there's a product for public consumption designed to be painted on anything that holds up to high temperatures, being bombarded with solvents, AND being lit on fire.

I also think the consensus here is that it will cause more problems than performance gains. But prove us all wrong and do the research if you don't agree. Post up some actual performance numbers... then tear it all down, paint your pistons and post up some actual better performance numbers.

The only treatment to piston tops I can imagine working might be ceramic-coating them. But then again, if it were some kind of miracle-method, you'd have heard about it by now in the high-performance circles.
