A Little Smoke

1995 Civic DX with a 1.6L .......Automatic Trans...Will not shift at low RPM ....Shifting at high RPM.....Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong. The motor came from a car that had a manual transmission.

the smoke is normal for an older honda. Not sure about the high shifting though....
