What is it that you want to know? If you want info on your personal civic, try punching the VIN into carfax or asking whatever dealer/person you bought it from for a service record. The little pic procivic spat out just tells you the chassis, engine code, horsepower, and that you have the coveted VTEC.
oh no im not looking for the kind of information that carfax would tell me,
just more information on,
what the chassis and engine code means,
and i know this is a complete nub question to ask, but you gotta start somewhere, what does the L mean in cars, well i know its for liters, but what does it do
and the 16v soch?
and also maybe more information on the vtec-e
thanks again

Every few years, Honda redesigns the Civic. That model year marks the start of a new "generation". for example 1992 to 1995 is fifth generation, 1996-2000 is sixth and I think 2000 to 2005 is seventh. As long as you stay within the same generation, most of the parts of one year car will directly fit one of a different year. Having a car that is not the first year in a new generation is usually better because they had a chance to work the bugs out.
The "Chassis code" represents the generation and body style. It is I think the 4th, 5th, and 6th digits of your VIN.
The Engine Code is the exact type of engine. You can find this code stamped into a flat place on your engine block on the front side where the engine meets the transmission. If you need parts for the engine itself or to replace the engine with another one that will fit exactly without modifying anything else, match up the engine code.

SOHC stands for Single Over Head Cam (cam is a camshaft) and you will also see DOHC which is Dual Over Head Cam. You have a single cam so it operates both the intake and exhuast valves. DOHC have two camshafts, one operates the intake and the other operates the exhuast.
Here is a video that explains how VTEC works: https://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_77259/tm.htm
As for engine codes: You have a d17A2. D is the series of engine you have. 17 is how many liters your engine is which is 1.7 (not 17 liters)
Hope that helps.
