My Low Beams went out, and I checked the harness today to see almost like a grease substance inside the harness, heat damage. Appears to have ruined my battery.
Anyone with a 2001-2002 better get theirs fixed. I'm going to the dealer to see if it's still covered, it should be.

Honda Recalls 440,000 Civics and Insights

Honda Motor Co. is recalling 440,000 Civic and Insight cars because their low-beam headlights can fail without warning. No injuries have resulted from the defect, the company said.

The recall involves 2001-2002 model year Civics and 2000-2002 model year Insights.

The headlights' wire harness can overheat and cause the low-beam headlights to fail, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The high-beam headlights would still function, however, according to NHTSA.

Honda will begin notifying owners this month about the recall. Dealers will perform free repairs on the vehicles whether or not they show any heat damage.

 

wonder how that happens?
did they put too small a guage of wire in there for the low
beam headlights ?
makes no sense !
