Low fuel economy?
Hmm well i was beginning to think that K&N might be indeed better than Mobil 1 after going to Autozone and Walmart tonight i think i found the clear winner. K&N at Autozone was $11.99, Mobil 1 was $12.99, went to Walmart they did not sell K&N Oil filters, went looking for my Mobil 1 Oil Filter was surprised to see it was sold out. Hmm i think i figured out who the clear best filter is. I liked the idea of using a simple wrench with K&N to remove them because of the nut feature but i can tell it's just a trick to get people to buy it instead of mobil 1. Heres something else.. Why do i see a Mobil 1 Race Car in Nascar and how come i've never heard or even seen a K&N Race Car in Nascar?
So i'm sticking with Mobil 1 it's been good to me not to mention cheaper than K&N if bought at Walmart and more expensive if bought at Autozone or Advance Auto Parts.

Well my source was simply put, i've heard of the brand Valvoline but never Purolator the brand name alone would make me choose Valvoline. If Purolator is better than Valvoline in tests than i'm sorry for said statement. I however pick Mobil 1 so i don't have to worry about Valvoline or Purolator...
Ok well your right it's not all about Nascar, but how come i haven't seen any K&N 5W-20 or 0W-20 for my car? Why is Amsoil too damn expensive? Because it's the best one hands down but because it's too expensive we settle for the second best. Why do i go to a Honda Dealer and ask "How much is a Mobil 1 Oil Change"? Why don't i go to Honda Dealer and say "How much for a K&N Oil Change"? Because they'll tell me they don't do K&N they do Mobil 1. Why does Oil Shops have signs that say Mobil 1 Oil Change $69.95 and not K&N?

Also, it's marketing. They advertise Mobil1 because it's probably the most known brand of oil there is. It "sounds" good when someone reads it, even if they don't know anything whatsoever about cars, just because they've heard of it. Then they assume it's the best there is.

I really don't know. I haven't come across a rating for the Valvoline oil filter. That's why I was asking. My current choice of the Purolator filter is based on a combination of a good rating in tests and price. I avoid buying "the best" when the substantially higher price doesn't seem fully justified. Just my opinion.
Ok well i found some information you guys will like to see.

Basically what it says applies to Motorcycles but same thing it goes for cars too.:
AMSOil
SMF 103 36 .038 25 10 mil nitrile Internally contaminated with dirt particles when new. Excellent filter media, but not much of it.
Bosch
3323 82 .038 25 20 mil silicon Very good filter media, similar surface area to stock filter.
Mobil-1
M1-110 60 .038 25 20 mil silicon Excellent filter media, but only 2/3 the surface area of a stock filter.
Pure One
PL14620 110 .030 17 20 mil silicon Excellent filter media, and there's a bit more of it than stock.
SuperTech
ST6607 41 .023 18 10 mil nitrile Comparable to an OEM filter, but $2 instead of $13.
Toyo Roki
OEM 94 .035 18 20 mil nitrile Decent filter media - not up to the standards of the Purolator, Mobil-1, or AMSOil, but there's a lot of it.
I recommend a Mobil-1 M1-110 or Purolator Pure One PL14610 if they fit your bike - check here. These filters stand out from all the alternatives as having superior filtering, excellent construction, and they're widely available at a reasonable price. I use the Pure One - it's half the price, and somewhat better due to having almost double the filter surface area. The AMSOil has superior filtering, but I cannot recommend it due to the exceptionally small amount of filter surface area.
