Thanks. I am going to get the CAT checked. God I hope it is not that. If I still need the MAP, have you ever had any luck or suggest if E-bay is an okay place to try and get these parts? The junkyards around here will not sell any kind of sensors off their cars.

they won't sell sensors?? I don't see why they wouldn't sell you a catalytic converter though.

Ebay is fine if you use common sense. BTW, welcome to the forum

If I recall correctly used CATs cannot be sold, at least not here in California. As for the sensors,… I have never heard of that, but is very likely that it is for the same reason, its emissions related.

You know, I am not sure if your CAT is in the bottom of the car or the the front(right on the exhaust manifold). You might not have to raise the car to check it, however it makes it harder for testing. Same things apply, but the rattle test is a little harder(no way to send vibrations through it since it is attached directly to the engine block) and to remove the CAT for the last test you have to remove it right at the engine block. No big deal, but it does bring up a bit more complexity. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me through my sig since I don’t check the forum as often.

your map also acts as your BARO sensor when you start the car, so the MAP being faulty also falsifies your BARO reading to the ECU
