Default Maybe not Bye Bye car

Hey

OMG i cant beleive im doing this but, i may fix my car!!!!!!!!!!

here are some pix of the damage, take a look, its worth it cause i'm still thinkin that this is a very very hard idea, but my bro n dad seem to think its easily doable.

Pics Of The Smashedness

So if you've looked at them; this is what we plan to do.

We're gonna take all the bits off, then where the inner wing stops being crushed, cut it, and cut one at the scrap yard, just at the shock mount bit, then bring it back n weld it on. get a new bonnet - outer wing obviously. the part that the headlights bolt onto; were gonny pull that out back to as it should b, apart from the crushed bit, were gonna cut it off n weld a new one on.

Think the radiator is ok. but if not - get it replaced.

New distributor as one of the leads snapped out. so only firing on 3 cylinders!

New Head Light

Pass My Driving Test and off we go

What you guys think? possible or not.

Scale of hardness 1 - 10????

cheers

You know it doesn't look that bad. My car was in a similar accident only on the opposite side. The inner frame was straightened out not cut and replaced. Everything else was cosmetic replacements, liek the fender, hood, headlight and front bumper. It wasn't my fault so the other guys insurance paid for it. I think it came out to about 1500 dollars. Although, I know some shops that would have done it for less. Had I done it myself, I would have taken off the fender hood, and bumper and taken it to a local shop to have the mounting frame straightened and just replaced everything else myself. It would be a lot cheaper and a great time to go fiberglass. For you is a great excuess to go cold air intake. What do you mean one of the distributor leads smapped off? If it was just the cap where the plugs snap in all you need to do is replace the cap, not the entire distributor. If there was no coolant leak your radioator is most likely ok. On a scale from 1-10 I'd say that is like a 3 for a body shop, but a 5 for a home mechanic(due to lack of tools to straighten the frame).

I'd rate this at a 3 or 4.
Perfect chance to go to fiberglass fenders and carbon fiber hood.
If your distributor only has a lead out of it, I think a new cap should do it (unless you're talkin about somethin else inside).

As for the driving test, I gotta know........what happened and who caused it?

yeah i like your enthusiasm!

i think a cut n replace job is gonna b easier than all this straightening out nonsence lol. cause i dont got money for that!

The accident happened cause i turned out of a junction n was accelerating up a hill, looked to the side of the road (still accelerating) n when i looked back there was a car stopped in front of me. no brakes no deceleration. just drrrrrrrrrrrive into the back of the other car!

My licence is revoked because i got caught speeding twce n coz im still in my first two years driving (well i would b in my third now) but when it happened i was just before the end of my 2nd year.

so 6 points in your 1st two years = revoke..

its a sad story

What is it about the front passenger fender? When I got my car the same fender was jacked up.

Before

After

Total cost: $89.00

Now obviously my hood wasn't a mess like yours but you get the idea. the fender was a completely different color when I got it off e-bay, the color is a match (Dupli-color bright red, Walmart- 5 bucks) but I still have a little buffing and clear to do for it to blend. And I need to bend that spot on my hood to fix the line and to fix that trouble spot (DIY coming soon).

Go for it. It's cheaper and easier than you think(as long as the frame is Ok).

Good luck and make sure to get us some pics of the work.

The car companies use several body pieces and spot weld them all together to make what they call a "unibody". This has been going on for quite a few years. Now days, the only vehicles that have frames are usually the full size pickups, some SUVs, and some of the larger cars. (and don't flame me, because these are only guidelines, not hard carved in stone rules of which vehicles have frames)
