Exclamation Might be the distributor?? Need help ASAP!!!

I have a '97 Honda Civic EX and as I was driving today it just stopped running! I have had a couple people look at it(just friends/family not experts) and they believe it is my distributor, but I don't want to spend $200 or more on that if it is some other problem! And I'm not sure if this is relevant but my fuel pump is working? Please help!!!!!!!

Alright, no-start diagnostics go!

Does the motor crank when you try to start it?
Is there spark?
Is there fuel?
I'm not sure if this pertains to your generation, but older Civics have been known for the main relay to fail from hot weather and bad solder joints.
In my 89, I would turn the key to the second position (but not try starting it yet), and listen for a faint whine, then a click, and the check engine light should turn off.
if there is no whine, the fuel pump isn't priming.
if there is no click, the main relay isn't working.
that's my understanding anyways. hope it helps.

Check for stripped timing belt -- take the oil cap off and make sure the rocker arms move when you crank. Check ignition switch circuit -- pull brake handle up and make sure the BRAKE light on dash stays on all the time while trying to start. If so and there's fuel pump running, CEL cycles on and off, yet no sparks, probably is the distributor.
