I am interested in a 99 Civc LX with a body that has 128,000kms on it. The guy selling it says that a different engine had been put in and only has 75,000kms on it. He doesn't have a reciept and I am wondering if there is any way to check if he's telling the truth about how many kms are on the "new" engine. Any comments? Thanks.

 

Best thing to do would be do have a compression and leak down test done. That wont let you be able to tell the milage, but if it passes it wont matter. If an engine with 300k miles passes with flying colors and and engine with 75k miles is weak on one cylinder, the higher milege engine will last longer.


With that many miles on the chassis youll want to have the suspenson checked out too.
