So I replaced my extension rod today because the old one was bent and trash. I could not even get the dust boot to seal on it because of the bad shape it was in. I got the new one and put it in the car but when I went to connect the shift rod I could not get it to connect because of a piece that was welded to the back. I ended up cutting it but Im sure that it was there for a reason. Can anyone help me out, I attached a picture of the trash extension rod and of the piece of shift rod that I cut from the back.
