Default Motor oil for 2000 Civic EX (non VTEC)

Wondering what weight oil to use in my Civic, 2000 EX. Owners manual says 10w30, but most of my driving is freeway, and its humming at 3-3500 rpm. Would 10w40 be too thick? Would this hurt the engine? Oil will be Mobil 1 Synthetic. Any info would be appreciated.

The stock 00 EX has a D16Y8 VTEC engine and the recommended motor oil is 5W-30.

The main reason for using 5W-30 over 10W-40 is that the former will give your better gas mileage, if that matters to you.
