MP3 CD changer
Hi guys,
I have a working CD changer in my '98 Civic EX in the trunk with a headunit that controls it. Does anyone know if I can easily swap it out with 3rd party MP3 compatiable 6 CD changer? Alpine or Sony make anything like this? Will the headunit controls work? Will I need some cable adaper? Thanks ahead of time!

if the cd changer and the head unit are oem, then you need to make sure you get the proper connection. I heard that Honda switches two of the wires so that a off the shelf cd changer will not work properly unless you get either one made specifically to work with a honda oem head unit or one that has a wire adapter.
well i did buy an aftermarket cd/mp3 player and the wire was already pre-configured for hondas. so it was a plug and play. check to see if the wire is specifically for civics. if not, they should sell an adapter that makes the switch for you which again should be easy plug and play. The adapter probably will connect at the head unit.
Some older Alpine changers plugged directly into the factory Honda head unit. I have one in my trunk, but when i bought my new Clarion deck, it was rendered useless. I should probably just take it out and/or save up for a nice Clarion changer.
