Is your Civic from the U.S. or another country. A 1997 Civic should have an OBDII code, which goes something liek P0....

i don't know how you pulled the code, but the only way im familiar with is using a scan tool. OBDII has a standardized set of codes, so if you get the OBDII code then i might be able to help. Autozone or another store like it can pull the code if you have a check engine light.

oooh yeah i got them, i got the codes by jumping the service check connector and counting the check engine light blinks, then looked these codes up... P0171 or P0172, P0303, and P0304.

I looked up the codes on a website
P0171: It could be a vacuum leak. The code is that the the O2 sensor is detecting that your cylinders are running lean.
P0172: Also vacuum leak or fuel pressure problem. This code is that the O2 sensor is detecting the cylinders are running rich.
These two codes are the opposite, which doesn't make sense. Im gonna have to think about this one a little.
The last two codes (P0303 and P0304) are saying that both cylinders 3 and 4 are misfiring.
The engine usually shakes when there is a misfire. Lemme think about the problem a little, maybe i can think of wat the problem is. Or maybe someone else can help.
