Unhappy my honda civic 2000

Ok so my shifter in my car was wacked one day I noticed that I could put it in gear and still move the stick around and it wouldn't come out of gear then tonight I was driving went to shift and it was like I had no gears I could just move the stick around and not touch any gear what do you think the problem is .......I assumhed its a linkage what do u think

Check the shift linkage under the car.

The ball seat tends to wear out / fall apart. If that's the case you may be able to shift by pulling upward on the shift lever while moving it.

Well tonight I had taken apart my middle console. And see it was my shift rod the bolt is gone so I hope that's all I will have to replace
