Default Mystified- cant get front brake discs off...

people,

These rotors/discs will not just pop off, even after removing the caliper like one would expect . Whats the trick/secret?

Thanks!

Did you take out the two Phillips screws in between the wheel studs? If they won't unscrew, just drill them out. You don't have to put them back, the lug nuts hold everything together. The small screws are there to keep the rotors from falling off on the assembly line.

Yes, MK, I took off the 2 philip screws- with an impact driver. Now, the rotors jigggle around, but wont come out - theres the caliper "frame' preventing that. Seems like they engineered the steering knockle around the rotors. Still perplexed.....

Thanks, MK!

The caliper bracket (what you're calling the "frame") comes off. There are two large bolts on the back side (the side that faces the inside of the car).

MK, (or someone else), do you know the torque to these bolts? especially the big 17mm ones that hold that caliper "bracket" than hugs the disc pads. Id apreciate any help, if possible.

Pip
