Default NASTY yellow slime mess.... WTF IS IT?

ok my 96dx canadian civic i got was from canada and then in wisconsin for awhile....

now I THINK this might be some kinda rust proofing slime.... but in short ITS NASTY!!!!!!
it keeps oizing out of the trunk lid openings and well THATS NASTY!!!!!

can anyone confirm or let me know what might clean it easily? i really wanna pull the lid off and clean it some how! its also sprayed around the rear wheel wells arches as well on the interior. i seen it lightly from the inside when i pulled the side panels off to do my kill switch. but it is no where near as thick and slimy!!!!!!!!
its all over the place in the trunk lid. all over the wire harness as well.
heres a few pictures...

Yeah, it looks like undercoating... You should be able to remove it with goo-gone or something like that. Us Canadians gotta deal with that road salt, eh?

Looks like cosmoline. That's old-school greasy stuff that the Army puts on guns and equipment to prevent rusting while its waiting for the next war. Was that car made in Japan? They used to put it on imported cars to prevent rusting on the ship.

At least you are rust-free.

up front around the wheel arches it doesnt look think at all and seemed to have been somewhat dried.... but on the trunk lid inside its more less like a thick oil slime!
it looks like maybe the double/tripple treated the trunk lid
ive looked around the car and i dont see any kind of rust proofing sticker on the car. tho it might have been on the window and it removed when windows where tinted before i got the car... im not sure....
but when my dad got his 86blazer rust proofed at ziebart they had a sticker and i dont remember anything this nasty around the car..... tho the truck did rust out still.LOL

it just seems like this 96dx is having more surprises pop up after further inspection and work progress.
this is kinda a minor surprise but defiantly 2nd on the nasty, 1st is the brake line leaking around the rear around the gas tank. and 3rd is the front axle boot busted.

and the car does seem to have a TON OF old undercoating all over the cars front end around the front wheels so thick the springs look solid to the struts and everything else! but it is dry flaky. eventually ill pressure wash that area and any undercoating needed ill redo. but i defiantly wont redo the trunk lid crap!!!!!!!!

The first VIN number is a "1", so it was manufactured in Merrysville, Ohio.

I would honestly leave it alone if it's undercoating/rustproofing stuff. I realize it's nasty sh*t, but if you have no rust, then it's doing it's job

EDIT:

is that stuff leaking out onto the bumper?....WTF!

Maybe I should take back my advice, get some Goo Gone(love that sh*t), and that will cut through and dissolve it!

LINKY to Goo Gone
