well my car overheats when i exceed 70 mph, so i figuired maybe its the thermostat not opening wide enough or something, ive neevr changed it before so how do i do this??? do i remove the upper radiator hose or the lower one, also how does the thermostat come out, are their screws or do i just turn it ?

 

It's at the engine end of the lower radiator hose. Remove the two bolts and pull the cover (with the radiator hose, temperature switch, and ground wires still attached), then the thermostat pulls right out.

Would be good to disconnect the battery first since you're disturbing the ECU grounds, also of course drain the radiator and/or engine block or a bunch of coolant is going to spill out.

 

this may sound stupid lol, but how do i take the clamp offi dont want to break it

 

You don't have to unclamp the hose. But if you want to and it's the factory spring type of clamp, squeeze the wings together with pliers then move the clamp a couple of inches back on the hose and release it. The hose can now be removed from the fitting, though they can get stuck to the point you end up destroying it and needing a new hose..

 

I'd prolly ask a pro about the problem before going to all that trouble. That's a lot a work to do without being 100% sure what the problem is...

 

id also say WHY the hose is off just replace it as well... that upper hose takes quite a bit of heat more frequintly then the lower.... sure wouldnt hurt since your already loosing some radiator fluid...
