Need thoughts on this idea for a header for my DX
I have an 00 DX civic, now i know the difference between the EX and DX being the Cat mounted on the header versus after the exhaust manifold.
Heres my thoughts.
I'd like to buy a DC 4-2-1 Header for my car but keep it legal with no lights on, i was thinking throw away my cat and stock manifold, install the DC header and weld up a stock EX header to where the DC header flange ends, heres a dilemma however, how can i make the o2 sensor reach the bung on my EX cat? will the DC bolt up to my motor even though its DX, im not sure if there was a motor difference this year...
so basically
how would you recommend extending my o2 sensor to its new position, and
-has anybody done this before? can it be done?
Thanks a ton!

or.. you could just buy a dc header and a magnaflow high flow cat and weld that onto the pipe after the header.
An "ex" header (dc or any other company) will bolt up to your engine with no problems. if you weren't really looking for power increases from the header/exhaust you can actually replace the dx exhaust with one from an ex..
also, in order to get the o2 sensors to extend you can buy extension cables in 18" and 24" for that. there is a website that sells these, just can't find it right now.. I've also read a lot of posts where people say that their dc header came with the extension?

you have to extend both your primary and secondary o2 sensor. your primary o2, extend that so it will reach to the header bung.
the 2nd o2, extend that inside the car, and look for the little rubber plug on the floor. you might have to take off your center console, and lift up the carpet. take off the rubber plug, put the 2nd o2 plug in there.
this is where the EX's and SI models have their 2nd o2 sensor plug

I was planning on doing this soon but the only concern i had with it is weather or not it is smog legal in california. I know you can get an EX high flow cat that is 50 states legal and headers that are 50 states legal but is it legal to change the exhaust on the DX?
Thanks for the info guys ill look into it, if you find the links for the extensions for the o2 sensors post em id appreciate it!
thanks!
thanks!
