Default New Clutch, Downshifting to 2nd vibrates

Hello everyone,

New to this and first time posting...
I have a 95 Civic manual. Just had the clutch and bearings replaced yesterday...Everything feels great but if i am going about 10MPH or less and i am in 3rd and i try to shift to 2nd i get this horrible vibration and it feels like the car will die. I've driven many stick shifts before and never experienced this, even on a new clutch. If i rev match on the downshift to 2nd everything is fine...Also when on a hill upward...normally you can slowly let clutch out to keep your car in one place before taking off with gas...when i try to do that the car vibrates badly like its going to die and didn't before. I always have to give gas to hold the cars position where before i could just use clutch and it only vibrated a tiny bit. Is all of this normal or do i always have to rev match?

Are you referring to chattering? like jerking motion? and did you replace or resurface the flywheel, most chattering is cause by flywheel needing change or resurface.

I guess you could call it a chatter. I'll give a brief story. My father in law is a hond tech and has been over 40 years. He never has time but one of his co-workers has his own shop and is friend of family. He has one guy working for him. I figured somebody would know why this is happening. I took it to honda dealership yesterday where friend works but the chatter vibration did not occur. They said my motor mounts were starting to crack a little but it was not serious at all and just brush it off. Well as soon as i drove away the chatter starts again. Weird i know. i paid close attention and the chatter only happens if when downshifting to lower gear and easing off the clutch while breaking at the same time. Or speed bumps too since i take them slow. Flywheel makes sense but the father in law said don't worry its fine. I said ok fine. But if it wasn't resurfaced or replaced it almost seems like that may be the problem. Last time i had a clutch on an old integra i replaced flywheel and i had a cracked motor mount and didn't feel that shutter. I am sure these mounts on the ej1 are fine just for minor cracks. did nothing with flywheel and having problems. Am i not supposed to release the clutch somewhat slow to allow it to grab on downshifts with breaking?

Downshifting routinely to slow down to a stop, and using the clutch to hold the position of the car in traffic, are both driving practices that should be avoided because they cause a lot of unnecessary clutch wear.

Flywheel is most likely your issue, I'm sure there nothing wrong with your driving method.

Glazed surface on flywheel can be the cause of that chatter and the chatter can be avoided by modifying driving habit.
