Default New ignition rotor, no start

Car ran fine (d16z6), put gas in it, got home, had problems with the ignition rotor, the screw had stripped out, so i started drilling it out, when the rotor broke off and i vice gripped it out, put the new rotor in and it started but choked itself out. Checked all fuses, wires, went out bought new cap and rotor, still no start. I saw there was oil from the coil leaked into the cap, went and got a coil from junk yard, still no start. By drilling on the distributer, could have messed it up to make it fail? I talked to my friend he said hondas are very sensative to stuff like that and the distributer probably went out. The junkyard had no distributers for my car, all were taken i got the coil from a 1.6 single plug matched coil to mine.

ever thought of your igniter? I was driving home one day and my car just randomly shut off. I replaced the cap and rotor because one of the connectors, for the ground actually, had broken. It still didn't start, I checked my coil and said it was fine, turns out it wasn't but if you've already replaced that try a new igniter. I replaced mine when this problem occurred. also there's a trick that honda has where using of all things an old dwell meter to test the coil. I know this is true for EF's because it determined my coil had gone bad. I'll check into it for you're del sol.

Was there any problem driving the car before you started this replacement? (i.e. could be something other than the rotor all along...) Have you checked that the new rotor is still properly in place?

Take the cap off and try to draw sparks to a grounded test wire held near the coil spring. If you get good blue sparks more than 3/4 inch long, put cap back on and repeat the spark test at the plug wires.

The car ran perfectly fine, i went to the gas station, got fuel, and an energy drink, went home, popped the hood, pulled the cap, started drilling the stripped screw and the plastic rotor broke, i used vice grips to break the screw loose, put new rotor on, put cap on, it started then died, wouldnt start anymore. Ive had the car from 88k miles till now 111k with the old rotor, but ive replaced the cap and put new plugs and wires in right after i bought the car because i couldnt get that rotor off. Also now i have 2 rotors for my car, one is from napa and one is from autozone, they are identical in specs, just look different, both brand new and still no start.
