Talking New Vehicle 1.8L Civic - Oil

After many years 15 I purchased a new Civic 1.8L. I am one that likes to take care of that vehicle but since it has been a while things have changed. I have always used the tradition oil brands and changed every 3,500 miles. Now there are blends with synthetic and those that are fully synthetic. I do like the idea of going about 7500 miles as convenience using fully synthetic. I have always heard if you start with fully synthetic stay with it forever. If I start with a blend can I go over to full synthetic without issues? I will also be changing my autotransmission fluid at the regular intervals too.

OK all that said and I do need feedback on oil. What are the other two biggest items I need to do for PM (other than coolant changes, oil, trans) that are very important and non forgiving??

THANKS!

I dismiss "synthetic blends" entirely since they never tell you how much synthetic oil is actually in it. The choice then becomes conventional vs. full synthetic, and synthetic is clearly better, especially considering that the price difference is not so large any more. Change intervals of 7500 miles should only be considered if you drive very gently.

it doesn't matter how long the oil can last you need to go by how long the oil filter can last. you can go 25,000 miles with AMSOIL synthetic oil but the filters only last 15,000 miles.

Hey thanks I will go full synthetic and see where the mileage minder takes me on this 2014. I will see if it hits around 7,000 or 7500. Never more than 7500 is my rule with a good quality filter What about a Wix? Good for Honda?

Do you know of a good link for a service manual? Also what is a good grade of coolant to use in the 1.8L Civic? 2014. What has happened to all the antifreeze coolant (anti rust / water pump lubricants) you can add to the fresh antifreeze on a change?

Smile Minder or Mileage

As far a working on my 2012 Civic LX, I do everything I can in my driveway with Honda parts. I have a good amount of knowledge and two tech friends that can bail me out for a case of beers. My question is: should I follow the minder's suggestions or focus on mileage? If mileage, what is the recommended interval for oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and coolant. What else has a mileage interval? I am replacing the air and cabin filters as soon as they arrive, but what else should I check into. Thanks!!
