No Reverse lights, switch ok. Car runs in R with key off

No Reverse lights, switch ok. Car runs in R with key off
91 Civic DX Hatch, Manual Trans
I have no reverse lights when in Reverse.
1. Bulbs are good
2. No fuse to check here
3. Running temporary power from Reverse Switch straight to Reverse lights = bulbs illuminate when shifter in R and cut off when shifted to N
4. Engine running, shifter in R, then turn key to shut off engine and accessories and remove key = engine stays running until shifted out of R!
If anyone can point me in the right direction as to what/where to investigate I'd be very appreciative,
