10W-30 for temperatures over 20º F
or you can use 5W-30 if you get cold weather because it lets your engine start better. 5W-30 heats up quicker than 10W-30 because it is less dense, but as a result the 10W-30 lubricates slightly better. 5W-30 also breaks down faster than 10W-30.
There's not much of a difference performance wise but 10W-30 is going to lubricate a little bit better as long as it's not too cold to use it. I live in FL and very rarely see weather under 20º F so I run 10W-30 all year long.
I see you're in SoCal... I would run 10W-30 year-round. (It doesn't get that cold there, right?)

I'm running a 5w20 semi-synthetic in my 94 LX with 342000 kms. It's been about 3800 kms since I changed the oil, and the engine has only used about 1/2 a quart. One thing I notice is that the oil level never seems to go down with normal speed driving, but if I start driving it a bit harder and let the engine 'wind up' the oil level will drop a bit.
