Default oil leaking

so my 95 ex coupe is leaking oil and im 99% positive it is coming from the front main crankshaft seal and dripping down on to the crank pulley which is throwin it all over the engine so i was thinkin i might have to replace it which isnt so bad bout 5 or 6 hours but my dad suggested that i try puttin synthetic oil into it to see if it makes the seal swell up some and stop the leak is there any logic behind this i mean the engine was sittin round for like 2 years and the seal might have dried out so maybe this will work what u think

Synthetic oil isn't a bad idea in its own right but it is not likely to help. Replacing the seal is about the same effort as replacing the timing belt. You just go one step further and change the seal after you have the belt off. The belt of course has oil on it now which means you need to replace it anyway.
