oil leek
This is for an accord not a civic, but I'm trying to get my bro's old 92 accord running good again. I'm pretty sure it has a gasket leek and it's leeking oil around the right side of the valve cover. My dad and I did some stuff to it today; cleaned the engine bay, put engine cleaner on,put some seafoam in, and removed a mouse nestunder the filter inthe airbox. lol while it was burning off the engine cleaner and water we saw a mouse and it's baby drop out of the intake hose. Thankfully they didn't bite into the filter and get into the throttle body, the nest was right under it.
But further assesment seems like oil is coming out slowly through the seal between the cover and the block but it was hard to tell because it wasn't spraying a substantial amount of oil anywhere. When I remove the valve cover do I need to cover anything orgo through anynecessary steps and precautions? Is it possible that the leak would come from somewhere else near the valve cover?

just label the spark plug wires and take off the valve cover then get a newgasket and hopefully thats all u need and u said right side???? driver or passenger side???? if it the drivers side it migt be a good idea to change the timeing belt and water pump because it might have gotten oil on it and it can streach or break easy.... good luck
The second pic is where I originally thought the leek was coming from, the 3rd pic is where it seems to drip out onto the manifold cover.

2nd pic is the gasket seal, you can see that it's cracked. My dad cleaned the valve cover with engine cleaner is that good to do? I thought everything in there needs to be lubed with oil even the valve cover. Also do they make ahigher grade gasket?

^^Agreed. I had the exact same thing happen on my old 92 Accord DX. replaced it with the OEM and to this day, it's still kicking and hasn't leaked once. my brother is still driving it too.
you should repaint and clean that valve cover while you've got it off of there.

ya thats the same trim this is. I'm def planing on painting the valve cover it looks horrible. My brother didn't take the best care of his car.....theres dents and scratches all over the car, and some dents and scratches got rust. My plan is to fix it up and give it to my girlfriend. I'm going to try that trick with the blow drier and co2 on the dents soon, see if it works I'll post along the way.She doesn't have her license yet but I'm trying to encourage her to get one lol. It's an auto too so it will be easy for her to learn on.
