Default Overheating

A couple weeks back I noticed my radiator hoses were both suctioning flat. The engine never raised above normal temperature but it seamed the hoses would flatten every time I drive so about two weeks ago I replaced the radiator cap and that problem went away. Hoses have been fine ever since.

Tonight I was heading to back home from oklahoma city and my temp guage jumped all the way up. Opened the hood and had a bunch of steam coming out from underneath the distributor. It was dark so hard to tell exactly where. The radiator was appearantly empty and the overflow tank was completely full so I filled the radiator with some antifreeze I had in the trunk and it was getting hot again by the time I hit the next town. Radiator seemed to be about empty again. I stocked up on some water and my car went through about 3 gallons of water during whats regularly an hour and a half drive. I picked up a thermostat on my way into town in case thats the issue. Its too dark out to mess with it tonight so im hoping to get some input so I can start trying to fix it tommorow morning.

Theres no signs of coolant in my oil and no white smoke btw.

Nevermind. Hose from heater core was gummy and torn where it meets the engine.

Glad you found your problem. Hope the overheating didn't do any further damage.
