I had a friend that helped me last night and he said that my thermostat need to be replace finally. The leak is repair also...can the thermostat be replace without drainning all the coolant system? Where it's a good place to go in the US to repair a car?

I don't think that draining all of the coolant from the system is necessary to replace the thermostat.

It would be best to ask friends in your local area to refer you to a good car mechanic or shop.

 

Some will leak when you pull the old one off then you can top it off after you replace it and I done that many time. Just place a cat box under where it will leak and you can see how much more you will need to top it off.

 

Fix fans = fix over heating = fix coolant pressure = fix coolant leak. P

I changed the thermostat yesterday on my car but it didn't change anything...and now I have a lot of smoke that go out from the muffler (and smell bad) and the oil have coolant in it. What are my option? I'm not a mechanic than I need to know if it have a easy fix (and how much it can cost)that will make my car go throught winter or if I'm better drive my bike...My civic is a 93, a lot rusted (because a lot of winter in Canada) and have 260200km (161680mile)

the head gasket is blown or may have a cracked head. $$$ my opinion just buy a engine and swap save ya alot of money and time. u can find an engine for 200-400$
